You all know I keep my personal library pretty tight. I prune the shelves once or twice a year and what’s left is plenty of books that I can pick up and be sure to fall into.
But that doesn’t fix the problem that there’s still a bunch of books out there I love that are NOT on my shelves. So, for my birthday this year (32!) I gifted myself the complete hard cover Outlander and Game of Thrones series. Adding 12 big, beautiful books to my shelves was exciting.
I originally read Outlander in 2017 through my local public library, the year my youngest was a baby, and I’ve had the GOT series on my dusty kindle since 2012. It was definitely time to purchase physical copies.
Since the pandemic started, Nicole and I have been ordering a lot of our books online, but also intentionally wanted to make purchases that supported the real book community, not Amazon. We signed up with Bookshop.org for their affiliate link program so we had a place to purchase books that supported independent book stores and gave us a little commission, the equivalent of a discount on our book buys.
I’m going to share with you the link to our BookShop.org/shop/Conquer Books storefront and you’ll continue to see it at the bottom of some of our book review posts and videos. If you’re in the US and looking for a good place to order books online, check it out.
Here’s how it works: when you purchase a book on BookShop.org with our affiliate link, 10% of your purchase will go to independent book stores and 10% of your purchase will support Conquer Books—which will do things like help pay for our domain, replace camera parts, and, of course, purchase books for us to review.
Our storefront has a few lists of books we recommend but even if you click off it and search for other titles, you’ll still be shopping under our affiliate if you see “Conquer Books” in the top left corner. We’ve had a good experience shopping on BookShop.org over the summer so we want to share it with you. If you have a favorite indie bookstore you’re committed to supporting, we want you to keep doing that, but if you’re searching around the internet for a place to buy quality books with good service that’s not Amazon, then you may want to check this out.
Here are my new series in all their glory.
